Eligibility
- Must be a high school senior or college level freshman or sophomore
- Must be in need of educational assistance
- Must be enrolled or intend to enroll in an approved junior college, college, university, or trade school located in the state of Kansas
- Must be the son or daughter of a veteran
- Parent(s) must have been a member of the Kansas American Legion and/or Legion Auxiliary for the past three years
- Sons or daughters of deceased members are eligible if the parent’s dues were paid up at the time of death
- Must be an average or better student scholastically
- Must show a high school transcript with GPA
Description
This is an outright grant of $500 for high school seniors and college level freshmen or sophomores who are in need of educational assistance, and are enrolled or intend to enroll in an approved junior college, college, university, or trade school located in the state of Kansas. The applicant must be the son or daughter of a veteran; the parent(s) must have been a member of the Kansas American Legion and/or Legion Auxiliary for the past three years. The sons or daughters of deceased members in either organization are also eligible if the parent’s dues were paid up at the time of death. The applicant must be an average or better student scholastically, and must show a high school transcript (with grade point average).
